The Golfbreker Award

In October 2004 the swimming team swam at a tournament in the Netherlands, and whilst there witnessed many of the Dutch customs. As well as the coffee shops and red light districts that we experienced there was one custom we decided was too good to leave to the Dutch.
After every major social the Dutch team awards a medal to the swimmer who has clearly put in the best "performance" during the social. In Holland the medal is known as the hangover award but we decided to name ours "The Golfbreker Award" after the club we stayed with. The rules are as follows:

  1. It is awarded to the most drunk swimmer at the social or the one with the worst hangover.
  2. The recipient will be chosen by the exec.
  3. The award can only be received once per person per year.
  4. The winner must wear the medal at the next social until midnight, he/she must behave themselves whilst wearing the medal.
